In an event that finally brought “the YouTube era” of boxing face-to-face with an elite heavyweight titan, Anthony Joshua delivered a definitive sixth-round knockout victory over Jake Paul at the Kaseya Center in Miami on December 19, 2025.
This clash, streamed globally on Netflix, was billed as a “Judgment Day” for Paul’s professional aspirations, and while the “Problem Child” proved more resilient than many purists predicted, he was ultimately unable to survive the raw power of a two-time world champion.
Earlier in the night, Alycia Baumgardner also asserted her dominance, successfully defending her unified junior lightweight titles against Leila Beaudoin in a historic contest.
Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul: The Breakdown
The atmosphere in Miami was electric as Joshua, entering his first fight since a 2024 loss to Daniel Dubois, sought to prove that he still belongs in the top tier of the heavyweight division. In the early rounds, the fight was surprisingly messy.
Jake Paul utilized a “hit and run” strategy, staying on his bicycle and moving laterally to keep Joshua from planting his feet. This tactic frustrated Joshua, who swung wildly and missed several big right hands in Rounds 2 and 3. Paul even managed to land a few solid double jabs to the body, causing a stir among the crowd who wondered if an upset was brewing.
However, the tide turned dramatically in the second half of the fight. By Round 5, Joshua’s patience and superior conditioning began to dismantle Paul’s defenses.
A crushing left hook buckled Paul’s legs, followed by a right-hand counter that sent him to the canvas for the first time.
Though Paul displayed incredible heart by beating the count, he was visibly wobbled and exhausted. The end came at 1:31 of Round 6, when Joshua trapped Paul in the corner and detonated a thunderous right hand that ended the contest.
Post-Fight Aftermath
In the ring immediately following the knockout, a bloodied Jake Paul revealed to interviewer Ariel Helwani that he believed his jaw was broken from the fifth-round onslaught. Despite the injury, Paul was gracious in defeat, acknowledging that Joshua was “one of the best ever to do it.” Joshua, meanwhile, used his post-fight platform to officially call out Tyson Fury for a massive all-British showdown in 2026, signaling that he is once again ready for the sport’s biggest stages.
Alycia Baumgardner’s Dominant Title Defense
In the co-main event, “The Bomb” Alycia Baumgardner proved why she remains the queen of the super featherweight division. Defending her WBO, IBF, and WBA titles, she took on the tough Canadian challenger Leila Beaudoin.
The fight was notable for being contested under 12 three-minute rounds, a rarity for women’s boxing that Baumgardner has long advocated for.
Baumgardner’s speed and technical precision were on full display as she systematically picked Beaudoin apart.
The highlight of the match came at the very end of Round 7, where Baumgardner landed a perfectly timed right hook to the temple that dropped Beaudoin just as the bell sounded.
Although Beaudoin showed immense grit by surviving until the final bell, the scorecards were heavily one-sided. Baumgardner walked away with a Unanimous Decision (117-110, 117-110, 118-109), further cementing her legacy and her status as a pioneer for equal round lengths in the sport.
