The box office performance of “Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge” has reached historic proportions, with the Ranveer Singh-starrer amassing a staggering Rs 454.12 crore net in India within just five days of its release. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the high-octane espionage thriller kicked off its journey with a record-breaking Rs 43 crore from paid previews on Wednesday, March 18, before officially opening on Thursday to a massive Rs 102.55 crore.
While the film saw a slight, expected dip on Friday (Rs 80.72 crore), it witnessed a monumental surge over the weekend, raking in Rs 113 crore on Saturday and a record-shattering Rs 114.85 crore on Sunday.
By Monday, March 23, the film had comfortably surpassed the lifetime domestic collections of all-time blockbusters like Dangal (Rs 387 crore) and Baahubali 2 (Rs 421 crore), establishing itself as the fastest Hindi film to cross the Rs 450 crore mark in India.
The film’s global footprint is equally impressive, with a total worldwide gross estimated at over Rs 750 crore in its opening weekend alone. This performance places “Dhurandhar 2” as the biggest worldwide opener for a Bollywood film, overtaking previous benchmarks set by Jawan and Pathaan.
The sequel’s success is attributed to its “A-rated” high-stakes narrative, which follows Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Hamza) infiltrating the underworld, and a star-studded ensemble including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan.
Despite its nearly four-hour runtime, the movie has maintained an average occupancy of over 80% in major circuits, particularly in Hindi-speaking belts where it registered the three highest single-day hauls in history.
Trade analysts predict that if this momentum continues, the film is on a clear trajectory to join the elite Rs 1,000 crore club within its first week, potentially challenging the lifetime record of its predecessor, which earned Rs 1,307 crore globally.
