In a surprising turn of events, actor and self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal Rashid Khan, widely known as KRK, was arrested by the Mumbai Police on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The arrest is linked to a shooting incident that occurred on January 18 at the Nalanda Society in the Oshiwara area of Andheri West. Residents of the housing society reported hearing loud sounds and subsequently discovered two bullets on the premises—one on the second floor and another on the fourth floor. While no casualties were reported, the projectiles caused impact marks on walls and a wooden case. Interestingly, the affected flats belong to a writer-director and a model, though authorities have not yet confirmed if they were specific targets.
The breakthrough in the case came after an intensive investigation by the Oshiwara police and a team from the State Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). While initial reviews of CCTV footage yielded no conclusive leads, forensic analysis suggested that the trajectory of the bullets originated from Khan’s nearby bungalow. Following his detention for questioning on Friday night, KRK reportedly admitted to discharging his licensed firearm. During his statement to the police, he claimed the firing was accidental or a “test” of the weapon’s functionality. He alleged that he was cleaning the gun and fired shots toward a nearby mangrove forest, suggesting that wind may have caused the bullets to veer off-course and strike the residential building.
Following his confession, the police seized the weapon and registered a case against the actor under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. KRK, who is no stranger to legal controversies involving his social media commentary on Bollywood figures, is expected to be produced before a local court today. While he maintained during interrogation that he had “no intention of harming anyone,” the police are continuing to investigate the exact motive behind the incident to determine if there was a more deliberate intent behind the four rounds fired.
