The final and highly anticipated leg of Lionel Messi’s GOAT India Tour 2025 is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on Monday, December 15, bringing the three-day, four-city extravaganza to a close.
After events in Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, the Delhi itinerary is packed with high-profile engagements, although a heavily rumored meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi was reportedly called off as the PM departed on an official foreign tour.
Messi, who is accompanied by former Barcelona teammate Luis Suárez and Argentina’s Rodrigo De Paul for parts of the tour, is expected to arrive in Delhi via a chartered flight from Mumbai, with an anticipated landing time around 10:45 AM, and proceed to his accommodation at the Leela Palace hotel by 11:15 AM for initial meetings.
The main public event is scheduled for the Arun Jaitley Stadium (formerly Feroz Shah Kotla), with proceedings officially commencing around 1:30 PM or 2:30 PM for ticket holders. The highlight of the stadium event is the felicitation of players from the Minerva Academy. This Indian youth team achieved international success by winning three major European youth trophies earlier in the year.
The stadium program is also slated to include a celebrity football match, where Messi is expected to participate or interact, and a football clinic with children.
High-level private interactions are also on the agenda, which may include meetings with the Chief Justice of India, the Army Chief, and other top government officials and sporting champions like Rohit Sharma and Nikhat Zareen.
The Delhi leg will conclude the tour, with Messi expected to leave for the airport around 6:10 PM for his scheduled departure.
The event is expected to draw massive crowds, leading the Delhi Traffic Police to issue advisories for movement restrictions around the stadium area.
