The best version of the new Tesla model is not the one you believe

Tesla has launched almost a complete range of its restaurant model, the opportunity to discover three versions with different characteristics. Also the possibility to note that the most interesting SUV is not the cheapest.

The new model is now available in three versions in France. No wonder Tesla transformed his scope by taking over the previous structure. So there are two models with one engine (standard autonomy and high autonomy) that accompany a high variant with two engines (great autonomy).

The tariff network is obviously adapted to this division. The model starts at 44,990 EUR – the same price as before – in the basic configuration (the engine associated with a small battery) to climb to 52,990 (two engines associated with a large battery). Among the two is certainly the most interesting model: at 46,990 € is very, very, very well placed great autonomy (drive).

As for the ecological bonus: when writing this article, these new Y models, produced in Germany, do not appear in eligible models, but it will certainly be their delivery (if it costs less than € 47,000, except for possibilities).

By 2,000 euros more than 100 km more

As we can see, there is only 2,000 euros the difference between the basic model Y and the more developed model, while the benefits of additional investments are huge. We are still talking about quite remarkable profits in autonomy (122 kilometers) and better acceleration (5.6 seconds compared to 5.9 s for 0 to 100 km/h).

The cheaper model only gains theory at one point: the efficiency given for 13.9 kWh/100 km, against 14.2 kWh/100 km. However, both cars are not on this criterion on the same weapons: the official figures are based on the 19 -inch edges for the Y and 20 inches for the second. In addition to the fact that the size of the rims has an impact on consumption (the larger they are, the less efficiency is good). This means that the Y Great Autonomy (Drive) must have tight consumption if it is not equal when it is deployed in 19 inches.

Given this low price difference, it is difficult to advise the drive of the Y model for EUR 44,990 unless you are in a hurry (delivered a little before the configurator) or you do not want a LFP battery (lithium fer phosphate). This technology favors sustainability with lower environmental costs. With the LFP battery, you can recharge your car 100 % and leave it for days without the risk of accelerated aging. NMC batteries (nickel manganese cobalt), installed on the Tesla Grande autonomous cars, require a little more alertness. For example, avoid leaving 100 %loaded for too long.

Compared to great declination of autonomy (all wheels), the model of great autonomy (drive) may not be ashamed. For 6,000 euros more we get better acceleration (0 to 100 km/HV 4.8), better sound equipment foundation (15 speakers + boxes, against 9 speakers) and more premium interior, all by sacrificing a little autonomy (568 km autonomy Against 622 km, with 20 -inch rims). If you don’t need a better traction on the road (reading: living in the mountains), the investment is not worth it.
