Dhurandhar’s Box Office Triumph: Ranveer Singh’s Post-Pandemic High

Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller, Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, has proven to be an unstoppable force at the domestic box office, achieving a spectacular feat by crossing the ₹150 crore net collection mark within just five days of its release on Friday, December 5.

This phenomenal performance has not only cemented the film’s status as a major success but has also propelled it past the lifetime domestic earnings of several of Ranveer Singh’s previous hits, most notably his 2019 critically acclaimed film, Gully Boy.

The collection trajectory for Dhurandhar has been exceptionally strong, beginning with an impressive opening of ₹28 crore on Friday, followed by significant weekend growth, earning ₹32 crore on Saturday and peaking at a staggering ₹43 crore on Sunday.

Crucially, the film demonstrated remarkable weekday hold, a true indicator of positive word-of-mouth, collecting an impressive ₹23.25 crore on its first Monday, and then seeing a rare growth on its fifth day (Tuesday), which brought in approximately ₹26.50 crore as per early estimates. This strong showing on Tuesday pushed the film’s total domestic net collection to around ₹152.75 crore.

This five-day tally already marks a massive achievement for the actor, as the film has definitively edged past the lifetime domestic total of Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, which finished its run at approximately ₹139.63 crore.

Furthermore, the immense momentum of the spy thriller puts it on track to surpass Ranveer Singh’s last solo lead release, Karan Johar’s family dramedy, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which had a lifetime domestic collection of ₹153.55 crore.

With the film’s current trajectory, Dhurandhar is highly likely to overtake Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani on its sixth day (Wednesday), a significant milestone that would establish it as Ranveer Singh’s highest-grossing film in six years and his biggest post-pandemic domestic hit.

The success is further amplified on the global stage, with the worldwide gross collections also soaring past the ₹220 crore mark in just five days, reinforcing its position as a certified blockbuster for both Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar, whose last film was the 2019 military drama Uri: The Surgical Strike.

This commercial triumph underscores the audience’s enthusiastic reception for the spy action genre, the strong performances from the ensemble cast, and the gripping direction, proving that compelling content coupled with star power remains the key to box office glory.
