Some electric vehicles have disappeared from manufacturers’ catalogs at the beginning of 2025 in the most indifference: which and why?
The end of some electric cars models is sometimes very promoted. On the other hand, others sometimes disappear without anyone really realizing it. Until the manufacturer performs a specific communication, we discover a little by chance that they are no longer on sale.
Some electric models see their life cycle early, as it was last year for Honda E, which will not have a second chance. Several reasons may explain this option: commercial failure, change of strategy on the market, or technical update impossible to observe standards. Mazda MX-30 only exists with an extension of autonomy
Mazda first launched the MX-30 in 100 % electric before introducing the R-EV version. The Mazda MX-30 was equipped with a small rotary engine that plays an extension of autonomy, as suggested by the BMW i3 in the past.
The electric MX-30 Mazda MX has never been a great commercial success, but the arrival of this version adding kilometers thanks to the thermal engine gradually reduced the sale of 100 % electric version. At the end of 2024, the electric MX-30s represented only 76 sales or 18 % of the model registration.
Mazda has just ended the marketing of this 100 % electric MX-30, only the R-EV engine remains in the catalog. The brand now focuses on Mazda 6 marketing. For electricity, the model enters the concession in the second half.
End of road for MG ZS EV, MG5 and Marvel R
Unlike other MG manufacturers, he pointed to the stopping of the ZS EV, Marvel R and MG5 in one of his initial press releases related to brand results. The three models that had the advantage of offering a number of very diverse electric vehicles at low prices were on a turnkey standard according to GSR2 (adding mandatory aids for driving), which also resulted in early retirement such as Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoé and Twingo as well as other models.
MG had to build business supplies to continue selling these models since mid -2010. Once shares are exhausted, these models will disappear from sales in Europe. From now on, only MG4 (and MG4 XPower) and Cyberter Convertible are on site.
VINFAST VF9: An unknown market disappears
The story around VINFAST VF9 is probably the strangest. Family SUV is present at the French site of the Vietnamese manufacturer, along with VINFAST VF8, since the introduction of the brand in Europe. Will the Kia EV6 GT come back?
The disappearance of the GT Kia EV6 GT can disappoint more than VINFAST. This sports version, or rather a big tourism, from Kia EV6, gave us a lot of fun during our test. Despite the price of EUR 74,690, a bit discouraging for Korean manufacturer, it was an atypical alternative to the Plaid/Performance Tesla models.
It is no wonder that the GT version based on the old version will disappear from the catalog. It remains to find out whether Kia will restore the experience with the updated version of the Kia EV6 GT, we have a little doubt, but Koreans will be happy to surprise.
